At the end of March of this year, Spanish Point was delighted to host a 2-day bootcamp for CISAC society members.
The bootcamp focused on an overview of the ISWC database and on using the new REST-based API. How to make ISWC submissions, retrieve information and delete/merge metadata were detailed. With the new centralised allocation system, assignment of ISWCs will be faster, more efficient and consistent.
The Next Generation ISWC System is built within Microsoft Azure, harnessing the power of cloud technology to achieve accurate matching at scale. The accurate matching of increased digital streaming royalties is a key priority across collection societies.
As a representative for societies around the world, CISAC is leading the effort to ensure fair payments for artists. This is an issue CISAC highlighted in their most recent Collections Report, sharing that despite the growth of streaming, just 1 in 5 collections paid to creators came from digital sources. The upgrade of their ISWC system is an effort to address this gap and manage the increased volume of ISWCs to be matched.
This upgrade will ensure that CISAC will be able to manage the future challenges posed to them by rising music streaming. To learn more about the Next Generation ISWC System, visit MatchingEngine.com or CISAC.org
